I replied to a comment referring to the images in this vlog as the “real Philippines.” I’m repeating it up here to highlight such disservice to the country and bring proper reasoning to this discussion. I am qualified to make these points. The images shown in this vlog do not represent the “real” Philippines. Stop stating that as if it’s unvarnished fact! The way of life shown, including the location, is just one of many varying lifestyles, local environments, urban communities, socio-economic enclaves and human geographic realities that comprise the Philippines. It’s so weird hearing about the so-called “real Philippines” tied to the urban poor or lower middle class at best. Yes, those are nice and friendly decent people in the video, and they’re definitely real. But what they represent is not the “real Philippines.” They are just part of it. So those who live like I did when I was growing up going about their lives in their comfortable and non-grimy homes and surroundings and social circles are not real Filipinos? Like they’re faking or pretending to be better off? I mean are you telling them their lives are not real? And my memories of my comfortable life were just a hallucination? My family and most friends were not even among the Filipino elites (some were). A good percentage of Filipinos live in nice, clean, even large, homes with yards and gardens. They go to work, schools, church and social events in good public transportation or are driven or drive themselves to those places. Heard of punishing Metro Manila traffic? Minus some forms of mass transportation, where do all those vehicles come from and get parked? You don’t see those vehicles that clog Metro Manila roads anywhere in those “real Philippines” areas, do you? Is that sea of vehicles in traffic only a mirage? How about the fast food places, both local and foreign franchises, and malls fancy and not, and delivery services? So, who patronize them? Imaginary Filipinos not living in the “real Philippines”? What bad business decisions to come open outlets in the Philippines when the “real Philippines” does not have people who could be customers. And then there’s the rural lifestyle. Also not the “real Philippines”? You seem to be putting the entire country in a box and labeling it. Rethink what you do and say.

You didn't mention the power outages? In the provinces, they usually cut the power at least once a month for about 12 hours, and it gets so hot you could nearly pass out. We had a generator when we lived there, but since moving to Manila and renting a high-end condo, we've faced similar issues. Recently, they cut the power and told us to leave for a whole day. Now, it cuts off several times a day for a few minutes, causing me to lose my work if I'm on the computer. This isn't just a Manila issue; it's a widespread problem of irresponsibility in the Philippines. It should be the building management's responsibility, but they just don't care. You can't really complain or sue-it's just how things are here. Also, regarding corruption, never drive in Manila unless you want to be extorted by the police. You might not even break any traffic laws, but if the police think you have money, especially if you're a foreigner who looks like you might be wealthy, they'll stop you and demand anywhere from $100 to $200. The truth is, the country has deep-rooted corruption issues. Consider this: if you have a legal problem, someone could just bribe the judge, and you'd lose your case. That's the reality here.

That's sad and messed up. Why would anyone do this to a young child. 😢

Meanwhile, these young women, in their quest for security, favor mature men. A stable and financially well-off man has a high likelihood of attracting a very beautiful woman. Adding to this, the law of supply and demand plays out in full force, and you will find a considerable number of young women with older, affluent husbands. Notably, in the West, we observe similar relationships among men with high capital, such as industry leaders, celebrities, or people of power. This is not a localized phenomenon. At 32, you should soon understand that your youthful capital and beauty are devalued by those who are younger and more attractive than you, to the immature women who still value than. Fortunately, your financial capital and maturity will fill this deficit. Since these aspects are more crucial to women willing to settle, you should not be penalized, or, if you were not among the "handsome," you will see your attractiveness multiplied. Understand that the dynamics between men and women are a transaction: men provide emotional stability, material stability, financial stability, manage most logistics, and offer reliable support; in exchange, women offer access to sex, provide offspring, maintain traditions, uphold the order of the household and create a home.
